New Year’s Day 2021

I’ve been to Long Jetty many times. The jetties are a popular subject for many photographers – famous or not. Like them, I had taken lots of photos of the jetties but never got that perfect shot.

For some time, I had had a composition in mind but I needed the right weather. Waking up on the first day of the year to find that the weather was dull and raining was a great start to the new year.

I drove up to Long Jetty and was hoping that the weather wouldn’t clear up. I needed the mist and the haze. The fact that it was raining lightly didn’t really bother me, it added to the effect. The mist on the water wasn’t too heavy but allowed the opposite shore to disappear.

Is it the perfect shot? You can decide that.
