Description
Kati Thanda First Light
After taking off from the William Creek airstrip, before the sun has fully risen, you’re met with a view that seems unreal. In the soft half‑light, Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre stretches out beneath you. The landscape is still holding its breath, waiting for the day to begin.
As the sun edges above the horizon, the transformation begins. Colours shift slowly — pale blues warming into soft pinks, then deepening into golds that sweep across the salt flats and surrounding desert. Subtle textures emerge, revealing patterns etched by wind, water, and time. From the air, the vastness of the lake becomes even more striking.
In those first moments of daylight, the world below feels suspended between night and day. It’s a view that stays with you long after the flight is over.
