Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre is one of Australia’s most remarkable natural places. Although the lake receives some water most years, it has only filled completely a handful of times in the past century. When it does begin to fill, the transformation is extraordinary — a dry salt pan becomes a living, shifting body of water deep in the Australian outback.

The best way to appreciate its scale and beauty is Lake Eyre from the air. These Australian outback aerial landscapes reveal patterns, colours, and textures that can’t be seen from the ground: branching salt channels, ochre peninsulas, the pale shimmer of shallow water at first light.
